Just had a thought. My modern hyrule pic is far and away the most popular pic I've done on here, and I really enjoyed working my arse off for one, polished, high quality image instead of doing lotsa sketches. So here's a thought, going on the Link vs. Gannondorf theme: videogame rivalries. Two rivals from a game, so samus/ridley, mario/bowser, chell/GladOS, the list goes on. My question to you is what characters would people like to see? I've already got one lined up, but after that :D.

So I have a couple of skilgannon fanarts that I was quite proud of, but when I went to contribute them to a gemmell fanpage there were none! *gasp* So I'm currently going through the motions to get one going, as I've seen a fair amount of stuff pertaining to it and nowhere for people of the same interests to meet up. Ideally I want a range of artists of different skill levels, then offer them themes each month. I'll probably have to keep them non-specific, seeing as he's written an awful lot of books but hey, as long as I've got a load of people drawing, contributing and critiquing each other I'm happy. It's far too easy to get lost in the

You spend a half hour in photoshop colour balancing a picture, only to find out that because the screen you're using is sooo bad it looks totally crap on any other monitor. Being poor sucks and I need to stop using a crappy 168:1 narrow gamut not-even-full-HD laptop screen to draw on. Gah!

Saw your post on ImagineFX.
Dude, the only advice I can offer you is this: art needs to be fun for you. If you're enjoying it and love doing it, you'll actively seek out ways to improve and learn more about techniques and styles. If you lose yourself to three hours or more to art, without even realizing it, then you're well on your way to improving.
Remember though, it's about 95% hard work and 5% talent when it comes to art. Keep at it.
Oh wow, thanks for that dude, really appreciate it :)
Yeah I guess you can only really get serious about something you love doing. Infact I was sat down the other day wondering why I actually spend so many hours drawing a picture. Couldn't even figure out why haha, guess it's a kind of compulsion for most people, coupled with the enjoyment of actually doing it. To be honest I think if someone was completely happy with what they did and saw no way to improve on that "perfection" then there's not much point in carrying on. So long as there are people who're better than me, as long as there's things that inspire me, I'll continue to draw I guess.

Btw, awesome artwork, I especially like the magna carta one. Hyung tea kim has always been a favourite of mine, never could get the hang of his colouring technique though.
Thanks.
Hyun Tae Kim's style is pretty easy. I could teach you, if you like.
